One of the most innovative and creative cafes I have visited is the Modern Toilet Café (MTC) in the Xinmending shopping district of Taipei. Writing about this café does no justice because you have to experience it with your own eyes to fully enjoy its splendor.
Recommendations
If you have a queasy stomach or your’re just not into poop or fart jokes, I wouldn’t recommend going. Whoever invented this cafe had no shortage of shitty jokes and definitely wanted others to eat shit. You see what I did there?
About the cafe experience
The chairs were toilet seats and the décor were vibrant toilet seat covers and urinals. On shelves were toilets with pretend plastic poop in them.Going inside the café one is greeted by a very cute poop and toilets.When you walk inside on a busy day you may have to wait for a bit. The food at the modern toilet café is served in western style toilets and eastern style toilets. It truly is a sight to behold when receiving ice cream in a toilet bowl. To order, the server gives the customer a menu and you check off the desired items. Then, the customer goes downstairs and pays for the meal.
The server then brings the customer said items. I ordered a drink because I did not want to spend money on food that wasn’t good. Other cafe goers ordered curry in toilets, but we opted for the cheese sticks. There’s even a gift store for some shitty gifts.
For any tourist, this is an ideal place to take part in. Don’t knock it until you try it and different experiences are great to have. I highly recommend the MTC!
How to get there: MTC is three stories tall and you can spot it a mile away because a giant toilet is protruding from the building.
